Via S-Bahn (surburban fast train): At Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof (main station) get onto S- Bahn number 3, 4, 5 or 6 ( toward Bad Soden, Kronberg, Friedrichsdorf (Bad Homburg), Friedberg) and get off at Frankfurt/Messe (trade show grounds); it is only two stops from the Hauptbahnhof (main station). Follow the sign Theodor Heuss Allee/Emser Strasse. Cross over the tracks and walk with the flow of traffic until the end of the bridge. There turn right into Emser Strasse up to the white building at Emser Strasse number 29. The Institute is in the building on the right hand side- second door on your right.
HINT: If you are starting from a station at least 100 km away from Frankfurt and you are using IC-, EC- or ICE-Train, your ticket is also valid in the S-Bahn to the station Messe

Via streetcar: Take streetcar number 16 from the Hauptbahnhof (main station) toward Ginnheim and get off at Varrentrappstrasse(fifth stop). Cross over the street on your left and walk against the flow of traffic along Hamburger Allee. Hamburger Allee 45 will be on your left. Go through the arch shaped entrance toward the back exit. The Institute is located in the back building. The green entrance door of the Institute is the second door on the right hand side of the building.
You can also take streetcar number 17 (direction Rebstockbad) and get off at Nauheimer Straße. This stop is in the Hamburger Allee - ISOE is on the left side of your flow of traffic. So walk along with flow of traffic up to the traffic light, cross there railtracks and street, walk up 20 meters back to number 45. Go through the arch shaped entrance toward the back exit. The Institute is located in the back building. The green entrance door of the Institute is the second door on the right hand side of the building.

Hint: use the Service of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (the operator of the public transportation system in Frankfurt). Visit http://www.rmv.de and use on the left hand the "Fahrplanauskunft". Fullfill the fields ("Von" = Frankfurt am Main, Haltestelle is your starting point, "Nach" = your aim: Frankfurt am Main, Haltestelle = Varrentrapp Straße). After sending by choosing "Abfragen" you will get on the side with the connections. If you klick on "Details" you will be shown the details and you will have the option on the right side of the detail of a connection to choose "Umgebungsplan Ffm Varrentrappstraße". This is a part of the city map.

By car: autobahn(highway) intersection west: take A648 toward Stadtmitte (downtown)/Messe (trade show grounds) get off at Opelkreisel/Bockenheim, go straight toward the traffice light, follow the traffic circle toward Bockenheim until the railway underpass, take a semi right at the traffic light, take a right 3 times, at the next possibility take a right onto Emser Strasse number 29 (white building). The Institute is located in the building on the right hand side as you enter the backyard. The entrance door is the second door on the right.

From the airport: take any S-Bahn toward the Hauptbahnhof (main station) and then take the streetcar or S-Bahn from there.
