Mobility Bregenz 2021 – a New Way for Bregenz

With its unique location at the Lake of Constance and the Vorarlberg Alps the city of Bregenz is highly attractive for both, inhabitants and tourists/visitors. But the city is also a bottle neck for transit between Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In order to harmonise in the future better the needs of the citizens, visitors and transit visitors the city announced an ideas competition for a new transport and mobility vision.

The contribution of the team included besides the analysis of potentials and conflicts three scenarios and the definition of six areas of action as well as a participatory process for developing aims and evaluating process and implementation. To influence the travel behaviour of people in Bregenz by the new vision the concept of mobility styles forms a basic starting point: attitudes and individual orientations shape travel behaviour – thus the knowledge of urban life and mobility styles is crucial for developing targeted and tailored measures.
